How might Shiatsu help you ?
One workout at the gym is not enough to maintain your fitness. It is the same with Shiatsu.
The effects of Shiatsu are often felt very quickly, but a series of sessions may be necessary to really notice an overall difference in well-being. The number of sessions required varies from person to person.
Shiatsu helps the body’s energy to rebalance itself. However, the longer we have carried a problem, the more our body’s energy patterns will have become accustomed to being out of balance. Therefore, in some cases, patience is necessary.
You are always welcome at any time for a one time Shiatsu. For specific problems, however, a series of 3 to 7 sessions spread over one or two months is recommended.
Each session is unique, as each client is unique.
The session begins with a brief discussion that enables the practitioner to determine the specific Shiatsu techniques to use during the session. A number of elements are taken into consideration; emotions, posture, work and family life, physical and emotional health, the environment in which you work and live.
The practitioner uses pressure with his fingers, thumbs, and palms along the same meridians and energy points as applied with acupuncture, as well as easing flowing movements and gentle stretches that increase flexibility.
At the end of the session, you may be shown some breathing and stretching techniques to help you manage your own stress.
SHI = pressure ATSU = fingers
Shiatsu is the child of Chinese and Japanese parents. It is an effective way to beat negative stress, eliminate physical discomfort and pain and revitalize the body inside and out. Each meridian is connected to a body organ and function, as well as an emotion, sense, time of day and season. When all goes well, energy circulates freely throughout the body and you feel well physically, emotionally and mentally.
HOWEVER sometimes we develop BLOCKAGES
During a Shiatsu treatment the practitioner identifies and releases points of tension allowing energy to flow smoothly helping to diminish stress related problems.
Shiatsu and Psychotherapy
Shiatsu can be a tremendous aide to those following a therapy. The body carries different messages from the past we are unable to express verbally. Shiatsu treatments can help to unblock and express those hidden emotions evacuating them from the body, releasing negative emotions and physical pain.
